||We are advised to take between seven and eight hours of sleep a night. Before creating this visualisation I had no idea how many hours I slept as I vary my sleep patterns on a daily basis. I have shown when I slept using a series of white bars. By the middle of January I had a very irregular sleep pattern because of upcoming deadlines, however this returned to normal in February. The entire graph is repeated at the bottom of the page to allow the reader to easily judge how many hours of sleep I managed each night. The edges of each bar has been given a soft edge because sleep is something that can not be measured accurately and I wanted to give the impression that people generally drift slowly into sleep rather than switching off instantly.
